As summer comes to an end, so must the maintenance and storage of our beloved sports equipment. In this article, we’ll tell you how to care of your MOS UpLift™ in summer, to optimize its durability and keep it running properly.
To start with, you should know that your MOS UpLift™ should be cleaned after a few outings or after a big trip, such as a bicycle! Here are some other tips to guarantee the proper functioning of your roof rack:
- Piston cleaning
You can clean your roof rack with a microfibre cloth to remove crushed insects and other dirt from the pistons. This protects the pistons from contaminants.
- Handle cleaning
From the outset, it’s important to regularly clean the handles of locking mechanisms. As mentioned in our article on winter maintenance, this small gesture will prevent dust from accumulating and ensure better operation of the mechanisms.
- Closing the lock cap
Next, make sure that the lock cap is closed to prevent rust or dust from entering the lock mechanism.
- Counting and tightening removable parts
Make sure you’re not missing any essential small parts, and that they’re tightened to prevent them from coming loose.
- Store in a dry, shaded place
Finally, your MOS UpLift™ should be stored in a dry place away from the sun. The basement or garage, if the temperature isn’t too variable, are usually perfect places to store your roof rack. Alternatively, if the place where you store your MOS UpLift™ is small, know that you can disassemble your product. Simply perform the reverse assembly steps. The whole process is described in our User’s Guide.
In summary, it’s important to rinse and wipe down the entire MOS UpLift™ when you notice heavy accumulations of dirt and dust to ensure the product’s durability and aesthetics.
