Transportation of outdoor equipment

The first real snow has finally arrived and like all winter sports enthusiasts, we hope it will be here to stay. If you’re like us, you can’t wait to put on your wetsuits and hit the slopes, explore the glades, or discover the mountain bike trails. Spending active time with your family and exploring the mountains is what skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing and fat biking are all about. At MOS, we are here to help you enjoy these moments. How can we do that? By simplify the transportation of your outdoor equipment during the winter.

Simplify the transportation of your fatbike

It’s really quite simple. During winter, you can use the same equipment you use in summer. Indeed, transporting fatbikes requires the use of the same rack as the one used for mountain bikes.  Just keep in mind that the maximum weight per MOS UpLift™ should not exceed 80 pounds. Depending on the weight of your bike, you may only be able to fit one per MOS UpLift™ mount.

Replace your bike or kayak rack with the ski rack

Afterwards, since the MOS UpLift™ is compatible with most accessories that have a T-stripe or around-the-bar attachment system, you can easily remove your bike or kayak rack and replace it with your ski rack. Simply slide the ski rack directly onto the MOS UpLift in the same way as your crossbars. However, just remember that your ski rack must have a maximum width of 26 inches (66 cm). You won’t have to climb to simply access your equipment on the roof of the car.

Make room in the car’s interior by using a roof box

As we all know, going away for a weekend with family and friends always results in a packed car. Using a roof box is a simple and efficient way to gain that precious space!

Indeed, usable in winter as well as in summer, a roof box will allow you to store your outdoor equipment on the roof of the car, leaving you free space to move. If it’s less than 26 inches, you can even mount it on the MOS UpLift™. It’ll be even easier to get your ski gear there, since the 2 strong arms of the MOS UpLift™ provide an additional 2 feet (61 cm) of reach. This will make the roof of your vehicle as accessible as the rear trunk.

Maintenance of the MOS UpLift™ during the winter may vary slightly, so be sure to check out our article that talks about maintaining the MOS UpLift™ in winter mode.

There you have it, you are now all set to hit the mountains. Enjoy these moments that will stay with you forever. It’s like the MOS UpLift™ to simplify the transportation of your outdoor equipment during the winter.
